destroying alice and therefore destroying newt’s link to the hivemind, freeing him
withdrawal via staying as far away from alice as possible, resulting in the precursors gradually losing their influence on his mind before vanishing completely
drifting more frequently with a human to outweigh and replace the consequences of having drifted with alice for so long with human thoughts, memories, and emotions
the more believable, realistic approach that involves some serious brain trauma from removing a malevolent alien entity from a human brain that comes with a variety of side effects including but not limited to epilepsy, amnesia, coma, etc
picturing some kind of chamber in newt’s brain where the precursor is at a dashboard controlling him and newt is behind a glass wall and through the power of true love newt manages to break through and beat the shit out of the precursor and take his mind back
